You saw it here first. It has long been a regret that this country, so innovative in many ways, still has never had a cartoonist as President or Vice-President. I suppose the closest was Benjamin Franklin, who was certainly a cartoonist, among other things, but the timing wasn't right, and he was too old to be President once the country got started. I'm probably forgetting somebody, but the cartoonist holding the highest public office was probably Dave Gerard, who was Mayor of Crawfordsville, Indiana.

And, you know, if this dream ticket were to come to pass, we'd for once have a Vice President who really understands what makes the President tick. Just look at his blog entries on the subject [link].
