Mangling the First Amendment Beyond Recognition

Cartoon by Baloo [link]
All the phonies are out shrieking to the high heavens how horrible and wrong Donald Trump is about not allowing more Muslim immigration. They are all either fools or phonies, of course. Any sane person who hasn't been marinated in political correctness knows damn well that any non-Muslim country is batsh*t crazy to allow any substantial numbers of Muslims in, to immigrate or visit or go to school or anything. Islam is incompatible with the values of Western civilization, and always has been. If you disagree, you're either ignorant of those values or of Islam.

On the plus side, we know that the whole gang of Republican candidates other than Trump (and maybe also excepting Paul and Cruz) are feckless suck-ups to the liberal narrative, and can be trusted to continue Obama's policy of inundating us with Muslims and other indigestible Third Worlders.

Interestingly, when I linked a post on Trump's announcement [link] to a libertarian (sigh!) forum, I got two immediate reactions:

1. I am a 'f*kin nazi' for agreeing that Muslims shouldn't be allowed to immigrate.

2. If I think Islam is so great, I should go live in a Muslim country.

The first, then, thinks that only nazis could possibly want to prohibit the immigration of solid citizens like the Farooks or Tsarnaevs.

The second is unable to make the fine distinction, evidently, between leaving people alone and requiring them to leave you alone with hating them and wanting to destroy them all. This is because I said Islam is fine by itself but is incompatible with our values (including mine), and that wasn't enough for the commenter. He wants me to hate them all, and, I guess, advocate bombing them all to death.

My position has always been that what Muslims to to one another is their business, and I neither want to use force to change them or to welcome them to immigrate and behave that way here. That apparently is too hard for some 'libertarians' to understand, and, like liberals, they think that if you don't clutch an ethnic group to your bosom and welcome them to live with you, you must hate them and want them to die. No middle ground. Liberals are basically toddlers, of course, and can be expected to think that way. But not libertarians, please.

On that First Amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.

Now, that first part means that there shall be no established national church. There isn't. The second part means that there shall be no Federal laws prohibiting any given religion. In the first place, the Founders were really talking about various Christian denominations, Jews, and unbelievers. They were not thinking about Islam, which they would probably have considered a cult or political movement rather than a religion.

In the second place, it applies to Americans, and most certainly not to foreigners, so there's no problem with using a religious filter on prospective immigrants. After all, we quite recently did just that when we gave Soviet Jews a special hurry-up invitation to immigrate, while not doing so for Soviet Christians. Nobody hollered about the First Amendment when we did that. Steve Sailer puts it this way:

Short Memories: Nobody Remembers Immigration Religious Discrimination Against Soviet/Russian Gentiles

P. S. Some have been saying that to avoid the religious problem, we can just prohibit immigration from Muslim countries. Hah. A good idea in a sane world, but what do you want to be that somebody points out that such a policy would have a disparate impact on Muslims? Hm?

  1. Ben Franklin warned the Americans at the birth of this nation of Englishmen and Germans that if they allowed Jews to come here their descendants will curse them in their graves. He was a libertine who was seen so even by the French where he served as Ambassador and cajoled their King to assist our revolt against England, but even he saw the danger in this race of aliens whose predatory ways and hatred for mankind presented to his countrymen. Hamilton and even Jefferson the most Left of them all agreed that our Constitution could only reign under Whites like them with moral character and was unfit for any other. Diversity isn't just bad, it is treason. Anthropoids from Afreaka like that freakshow in the White House should not even be residents much less citizens. His resemblance to Akhanaten the mad half-black hermaphrodite that destroyed Ancient Egypt is practically a sign from God warning Americans that their society is under existential threat and their lives depend on expelling all the aliens.

    1. Ben wasn't too fond of Germans either, and we were not a nation of Englishmen and Germans, Germans made up less than 10% of the population at the time of the Revolution. We should not have let the Germans in either.

      Per Franklin:
"Why should Pennsylvania, founded by the English, become a Colony of Aliens, who will shortly be so numerous as to Germanize us instead of our Anglifying them, and will never adopt our Language or Customs, any more than they can acquire our Complexion.

      24. Which leads me to add one Remark: That the Number of purely white People in the World is proportionably very small. All Africa is black or tawny. Asia chiefly tawny. America (exclusive of the new Comers) wholly so. And in Europe, the Spaniards, Italians, French, Russians and Swedes, are generally of what we call a swarthy Complexion; as are the Germans also, the Saxons only excepted, who with the English, make the principal Body of White People on the Face of the Earth."
