Vlad the Impudent

Guest post by Baloo.

Heck, I started the "Putin for President" boom a long time ago.  Yeah, I'm not satisfied with that caricature, either.  I'll work on it.  Anyhow, there are a lot of interesting reactions to this whole Putin thing out there in the Netosphere.  A lot of us are "advocating" Putin for President simply as a polemic reaction to the horrible Presidents we've had lately and the prospect of just more horrible ones in the future. Really, it's hard to believe that Putin could conceivably be a worse President than Obama, or Hillary, or yet another confounded Bush. You'd think that his natural Russian patriotism would lead him to have a knee-jerk tendency to do things that are in the interest of the United States, instead of the opposite, like the Obama/Clinton/Bush gang does.  At least, if he followed the kind of advice he gives us, he'd be the best President since.... Well, Coolidge, probably.  The graphic is interesting.  It was probably put together to make fun of Republicans, but if so, it was a bad choice. Could any sane person argue that Hillary would be a better choice than Putin?

But there are overly serious people out there cautioning us that Putin is a communist.  Well, considering that he was born in 1952, to parents who were both small children when the revolution took place, it would have been a crummy career path for him not to have been a communist in the Soviet days, and if you'll notice, the Communist Party has run candidates against him in every election. So I'll take his word for it that he's not a communist.  He was a witness to how well communism worked, after all. The American Communist Party, by the way, supported Obama in the last two elections.

And if he can't be President, maybe he could be a Presidential advisor.  His advice beats the hell out of that of the liberal and neocon pundits.  And maybe Boehner and McCain would resign from Congress in protest. That would be a threefer!
