Neale Osborn is back with Gun Rant #19

She doesn't move, but she doesn't really need to.

Been camping, visiting, and camping some more. But here's what I managed to compile during my hiatus.

Copied from The Libertarian Enterprise, submitted by L. Neil Smith.

The following comes from John McDowell, by way of my aunt Bobbie. I  have asked for, but not yet received appropriate permissions, but  given that it was posted the way it is, I figure it's okay. It is  entitled "My Gun".
Today I swung my front door wide open and placed my  Remington 870 shotgun right in the doorway. I gave it 6  shells, then left it alone and went about my business.
While I was gone, the mailman delivered my mail, the  neighbor boy across the street mowed the yard, a girl  walked her dog down the street, and quite a few cars  stopped at the stop sign right in front of our house.
After about an hour, I checked on the gun. It was still  sitting there, right where I had left it. It hadn't moved  itself outside. It certainly hadn't killed anyone, even  with the numerous opportunities it had been presented to  do so. In fact, it hadn't even loaded itself.
Well you can imagine my surprise, with all the media  hype about how dangerous guns are and how they kill  people. Either the media are wrong, and it's the misuse of  guns by people that kills people, or I'm in possession  of the laziest gun in the world.
All right, well I'm off to check on my forks and spoons.
I hear they're making people fat.

Little Stevie Wonder, a HUGELY talented performer, has stated he won't ever perform in Florida until Stand your Ground is repealed in the wake of the Zimmerman acquittal. Link.
Now Wonder has announced he will boycott Florida and the other 22 other U.S.  states which carry similar laws until they are overturned. Speaking to fans at a  show in Quebec City on Sunday, the singer said, "I decided today that until the  Stand Your Ground law is abolished in Florida, I will never perform there again.  As a matter of fact, wherever I find that law exists, I will not perform in that  state or in that part of the world.
Does he REALLY think his music is more important than our right to self defense? Does he REALLY think his music is so important that a legally armed (as if there are, Constitutionally speaking, any ILLEGALLY armed people) person has an obligation to give way to a criminal to keep him coming to their state? As with the La Who Za Her, I say Fuck him.

The DOJ can't get enough guns of it's own, so it's stealing the property of an American citizen. Link. They have placed a "hold" on an American citizen getting his property back. While they CLAIM this does not mean they are going to falsely charge him with a hate crime (which is the only charge they are allowed to make, even though the FBI already said there was NO racial animus on the part of George Zimmerman), there is no other explanation for denying him the return of his property. I'll be honest- I doubt he wants it back. It's GOT TO bring bad memories to mind. I'd probably lock it in a safe and forget about it after all the shit he's gone through, or even fail to retrieve it from the police, and go buy myself a new gun. But after this crap, I think my lawyers would be getting involved in the retrieval of my gun just because they have now effectively stolen it.

Glock does it again. They have won another contract to supply a city PD their guns. link. I'm not a fan of Glock, they just don't feel right in my hand. But as a Glock-trained Factory Armorer, I have to admit they are robust and reliable. I just don't particularly LIKE them!

Chicago does it again. Now, they are going to spy on social networks and issue notices to people their spying leads them to believe will commit violent crimes. link. Did they ever hear about a presumption of innocence? Or privacy rights?

Not a fan of high heels for the ladies- to me, they make the women look like they are about to fall down. But I could dig these heels on a lady. Link. what the hell does TSA think- women will pull'em off and use'em to hijack the plane? Get real! (There goes one more way I can't exercise my Constitutional right to defend myself on a plane!)

Gun fever breaking my ass!! Link. The reason gun sales will be less this year is simple- guns and ammo manufacturing cannot keep up with the demand, especially when Obama and his merry government assassins are buying every round of ammo they can come by. Isn't it funny, though, how the military (who all swear an oath to protect and defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic) isn't getting most of these weapons and ammo- it's the Social Security, DHS, TSA, DEC, and HEW police forces (who knew old people and public school students were so rowdy) who are getting the weapons. And THEY swore no such oaths. Oh, and those HEW cops are NOT being posted to our schools to protect our children. That might be an acceptable use of them. I wonder why the government needs well over 100,000 "law enforcement officers" who are not actually cops, armed with military grade weapons? Do you NEED full-auto rifles to distribute SSI checks, or protect our national forests?

Maybe cops should learn to read addresses rather than just go blasting away at citizens. Link. It's not "poor lighting" that leads you to the wrong address. It's stupidity. They were on the wrong side of the street, at the wrong address. Just like SWAT teams blowing away people during "No-Knock" warrant assaults (something our Founding Fathers would have deplored, I might add)served on the wrong address, this is murder, pure and simple. There is absolutely no excuse for this hideous event. These two cops needs to be severely punished, but we all KNOW how it will end- Two cops absolved of guilt, and a ton of taxpayer money used try to buy off the wife and family of this murder victim. And the media will play along...........

Like this. Link. Oh, I know what you are saying- "But Neale, this isn't gun related!" Not yet, it isn't. But this is step one in the media suck-off of Hillary Clinton. They have anointed our next Democrat presidential nominee. I guess they feel guilty for throwing over the first serious female choice for a black male choice in the 2008 race. Now, don't get me wrong- Hillary or Barack, we'da been screwed either way. Two poorer choices I can't imagine- either "It takes a village to raise a child" or "You didn't build that (your business)! Someone else built that!". No, two more totally socialist, anti individualist people I cannot imagine. But pay attention people- the anointing of Hillarious Rotten Clinton has begun in earnest. And as usual, NBC leads the charge to the left.

FINALLY, a legitimate use for tax dollars! Link. An Arkansas school district is giving 20 teachers and staff $1100 each to buy a holster and pistol, and spending over $50k on 53 hours each of training in live fire scenarios tailored specifically to combating a campus shooting. While several school districts have a few guns under lock and key for administrators' use in an emergency, this is the first time a school district is taking advantage of an Arkansas law that permits armed security guards to carry concealed on campus. Rather than hire guards who would do nothing but wander the halls (and make targets of themselves for a serious shooter), these will be teachers carrying concealed. Already employees (so the only added expense is the guns and training, plus yearly refresher training), the teachers will hopefully carry every day for no reason at all. But if the worst SHOULD occur, there will be teachers who do not have to hide their children then bravely face a gunman's bullet with no means of defending the kids. I'm not a supporter of public education at all, but if we are going to gather a bunch of juicy targets in one place for psychopaths to attack, let's protect the targets with every legitimate resource we have.

And again, Nancy Pelosi proves her lack of a brain. Link.
"We must uphold our oath to ‘protect and defend’ the constitution and all Americans by expanding background checks and keeping dangerous firearms out of the wrong hands.” “We must restore confidence in the safety of our homes, schools, movie theaters, and neighborhoods by taking clear, concrete steps to prevent gun violence,”  -
What part of "Shall not be infringed" does this brain dead piece of excrement not understand?

"George Zimmerman Has The Nerve to Own Another Gun" might as well have been the headline. Link. Zimmerman was speeding a bit in Texas. Not reckless speeding, just exceeding the speed limit. Texas law requires cops to ask "Are there any weapons in the car?" It is NOT illegal to carry a loaded pistol in your glove compartment. Zimmerman answered the question honestly with a "Yes", and within five minutes, the stop was completed. For anyone BUT George Zimmerman, end of story. But MSN used the following teaser-

as if he'd done something wrong. hell, with all the threats and warnings issued against him recently, he'd be an idiot NOT to be armed!

  1. Explain to me how stand your ground is your right when the law has origins in alec, hence why so many states have these bad laws.

You guys always get me, the NRA is run by gun companies, and then the NRA always scares you into thinking someone is going to take all of your guns, so the only way to stop them is to buy more guns. The right is so controlled by companies its not even funny. Between alec writing laws that you pass and then defend as your rights to buying weapons because a company told you to, its absolutely ridiculous.

And you still use socialist like its a bad word, but never actually explain why, you just assume like we still have a mcCarthy style witch hunt going on.

And finally, I was not aware that Arkansas was so wealthy and had such an amazing public school system that they could just flush money down the drain on something so stupid.

  2. It would be helpful if you'd identify yourself when you post. It's hard to tell which anonymous said what, or if they're all the same person. In this case, you really should work on grammar and usage. You're hard to understand.

  3. With ideas as bad as the ones the author puts forth it doesn't deserve to have me go through and fix my grammar. The first part is about ALEC, look it up if you do not know what it is. The second is about how you rely on the NRA to tell you when to be afraid. They then tell you what you should do to remedy that fear, buy a gun, which is conveniet considering many involved in the NRA are the manufacturers. The third is that you attack Clinton for being socialist but never define it in context or explain what is so bad about it. The last section, said Arkansas schools probably have enough financial and educational issues that arming teachers should not be their first priority.

  4. *We're* not the ones who sound panties-wetting terrified of everything outside our door, anon. Project much?

"You're afraid of criminals. Many of you demand large police forces for the purpose of 'deterring' crime. Some of you support New York's 'stop and frisk', a program of searching people without probable cause. Many of you also demand gun registration, prohibitions on carrying weapons openly or concealed and more.

You demand these things despite an unbroken record of court cases documenting that the police have no duty to protect you and cannot be held accountable if they fail to do so. You refuse to demand that your right to self-determination and life be respected such that you can defend your own life and property through the use of technology -- including a firearm. You're afraid that your neighbor or some random person on the street will, entirely unprovoked, go crazy and start shooting people despite the fact that if they do before you dial 911 their entire magazine will be spent and a crazy person doesn't care what laws you pass. You're too afraid to carry upon your person the only means of stopping such an insane individual should that unlikely event occur, because you're afraid that you or those around you cannot handle the use of that device in a lawful and peace-defending manner. You do this despite the documented fact that you are far more-likely to be shot 'in error' on a per-capita basis by a cop than by an ordinary civilian."

  5. You CERTAINLY wouldn't ever call the police if you heard strange bump in the night, or otherwise found yourself contending with a potentially violent criminal, would you, Mr Anonymous Pacifist? I mean, how could you rightfully ask a police officer to risk his life to protect yours, when you will assume no responsibility for that task yourself? Because that is his job and we pay him to do it? Because YOUR life is too precious to risk, but his is only worth the 40 grand a year we pay him? If you believe it morally reprehensible to merely possess a "military style semi-automatic weapon", much less use one to repel a criminal assault, how could you in good conscience ask someone else to commit such an egregious sin on your behalf?

  6. Terrified? No I live my life unafraid, I am not the one who is so afraid of everyone around me that I need to grab a gun whenever someone knocks at my door.

I have never argued for a large police force, maybe for a police force large enough that it can actually serve its purpose. Unlike the libertarian blogger I believe in paying taxes, which allows us to have any police and not just a bunch of self important, racist vigilantes running the streets.

They may not be perfect but the police are trained when to and not to shoot, unlike you average gun not who will always shoot first. That is not self determination, thats just selfish. Thinking you can be judge, jury, and executioner for someone when youre terrified by a bump in the night. What Iam afraid of is that those who are mentally ill and prone to be afraid will eat up all the NRA crap. That they will believe they need to arm themselves and then "revolt" and murder a mass of people. And as for your claim that laws do not matter, thats ridiculous. If certain types of weapons are not made or sold, people will not be able to use them in violent crimes.

Its not about worth, its that they have the training to not only use weapons but also defuse situations so violence isnt needed. I never said it was a sin to own them.

  8. The FBI came down to Sanford, FL to investigate whether George Zimmerman was racist, and concluded there was no evidence of racial animus on the part of a 1/8th black, latino man who had a black business partner, took a black girl to the prom and took up the cause of a homeless black man who had been viciously beaten by the son of a police officer (Zimmerman contacted the NAACP for assistance and was told they had no resources to help).

As for the rest it is DOCUMENTED that your odds of being mistakenly shot by a cop are much higher than your odds of being mistakenly shot by the CCW holders you decry. If it had SERGEANT George Zimmerman of the Sanford PD, he'd have gotten 6 weeks paid leave, and a review board would have determined that "All Department Procedures Were Followed".

PS- The Imperial Stormtroopers from Star Wars were better shots than the NYPD...

  9. I didnt bring up George Zimmerman, I meant in general that includes the vigilantes patrolling the border harassing people based on skin color. But since you did, provide proof that he was such a saint. If he had been a police officer than he would have known better than to shoot

  10. Um, just up the road from me last week a sheriff's deputy shot an unarmed man sitting in his own front yard... Google is your friend. Cops shoot unarmed people doing nothing wrong, all the damned time.

Run along back to DailyKos. You're not tall enough for this ride.

    1. So you justify civilians carrying guns and shooting unarmed people with police who shoot unarmed people. You need to change your bio because you are no Christian.

  11. I don't have to justify jack squat. I have a human right to keep and bear arms. It would be especially stupid for the peaceable citizen to disarm, when the State and the free-lance criminals will never disarm, but that's just one good reason to have guns, not a justification. At the risk of hurting your feelings, your approval is neither needed nor sought, sweet pea.

"If you are for gun control, then you are not against guns, because the guns will be needed to disarm people. So it’s not that you are anti-gun. You’ll need the police’s guns to take away other people’s guns. So you’re very Pro-Gun, you just believe that only the Government (which is, of course, so reliable, honest, moral and virtuous…) should be allowed to have guns. There is no such thing as gun control. There is only centralizing gun ownership in the hands of a small, political elite and their minions."
