The Good Gun

"The end of responsibility is really the end of citizenship."  — Gregory Hood.

We've been re-watching our DVD's of  The Good Wife  and wallowing in the Chicago-y atmosphere of it all.  Wonderful show, for any of you out there who assume (as I did, to begin with) that it was just another series for the ladies.  It is a series for the ladies, but for the rest of us, too, and especially for those of us who need reminding that Chicago is neck-and-neck with New Orleans and Washington DC for the "most corrupt" trophy. It's also one of those dramas that's far funnier than the average sitcom.

Well, virtually everybody in the show is a Democrat, and a flamingly liberal one at that.  One of the main characters, pictured here, is super-tough lawyer Diane Lockhart, who describes herself at one point, if memory serves, as coming from "three generations of Democrats." The plot of one little arc is that she's testified against a murderer's being released on parole, but he's going to be released anyway, and she's scared.  But she's conflicted, because she's a gun-hater and a lifelong supporter of gun control, and her father or uncle or somebody like that, evidently a politician, introduced the first gun control legislation in Illinois or something to that effect.  With typical liberal doublethink, though, she knows that she really ought to have a gun anyway, because her need trumps the principle, or the principle is flawed, yadda yadda yadda, and she gets one, and almost shoots her dog with it in the middle of the night because it makes noise and scares her.  She gives up the gun.  Exactly what the writers were trying to convey there, I'm not sure.  That she was right all along, because if people have guns they'll just accidentally shoot their pets?  That there is a doublethink thing going on with anti-gun liberals?  Dunno.  Another ironic elephant in the room is that Diane is a self-proclaimed feminist, but (like virtually all feminists) she does not want women to be allowed to have firearms to defend themselves.  Not even herself, as the story arc ends up. She evidently believes that THIS sort of thing will protect women.  Actually, of course, in this connection she's not thinking at all, because feminism isn't a "thinking" sort of ideology, but a "feeling" one.

Gregory Hood has figured out why liberals hate and fear guns.  Hint:  It's related to my assertion that liberalism is a form of immaturity at base.  He writes:

Why Liberals Hate Guns

The Demonization of Gun Owners

“In light of recent events, I’m really concerned about your safety. So for your birthday, I bought you a pistol. It’s relatively small caliber, features a safety, great for a beginner. I also bought you some lessons from a qualified instructor so you can get your concealed carry permit. Happy birthday!”

Consider the above. Many of us can think of friends, spouses, or significant others who would be delighted – indeed staggered – by such a generous gift. However, it’s not difficult to think of others that would be offended, outraged, or even sickened by it. With the effortless uniformity of thought and action characteristic of North Korean mass games or a typical sociology class, progressives are rejoicing that they have found a white shooter in Newton, Conn. so they can try to disarm the American people. Accompanying the political posturing and concern trolling by the likes of sinister clown Joe Biden is a hate campaign against gun owners as inherently dangerous, unstable, and even unpatriotic.

Whites who don’t favor the active genocide of their own race are used to being demonized as “racists.” Progressives exposed to something as uncontroversial as racial differences in intelligence simply reply with moral outrage and priggish posturing (“I have to take a shower,” and so forth). Inanimate objects are now creating the same kind of reaction. Like Victorian hysterics, progressives now blanche, swoon, and vapor at the very thought of people owning guns they don’t “need.”

A relative at Christmas, unaware that I own several firearms, blithely commented that “Only the police should have guns. Gun owners are crazy and dangerous and should be in jail, to protect the rest of us.” Concealed carry permit holders, who are far less likely to commit crimes than the general population, are charged with secretly lusting to murder children. Meanwhile, the Left, operating, as always, without irony, is merrily tweeting away death threats to their political opponents.

I’ve written elsewhere that the Left’s current campaign against guns is closely linked to its overall anti-white agenda. The current debate has been refreshingly frank about the use of firearms by whites to defend against nonwhite crime. The Left simply charges that whites have a duty to die as a form of penance for past sins against egalitarianism. However, what is occurring is something broader than the usual genocidal impulse against the hated white male. The progressive reaction to Newtown reveals the utopian impulse at the heart of the modern Left is the desire to escape responsibility itself.
[Indeed — Liberals aren't grown up and don't want to grow up.  Keep reading HERE.]

  1. The problem is that the right thinks minorities and most whites don;t deserve to be free. The left thinks that freedom is too hard for most people except a small elite.
Sooner or later free men of all races will piss on their graves.
America is the land of the Free, not the Land of the Equal, not the Land of the Politically Correct. Until people get that right we're just spinning our wheels/
