Why is Education so Bad?

Why is education so bad these days?  Well, there are lots of reasons.  One is the theory that everybody is equally educable, which leads to enormous outpourings of public money to accomplish the impossible.  Another is the centralization of education authority at the state level, and more every day, at the Federal level, thus separating the responsibility from the customer, which always leads to inefficiency.  And there are other dumb educational theories that don't work and cost money always popping up.

But a great big cause is bad teachers.  And there are a lot of reasons for that, too, but a very basic cause is that good teachers tend to get harassed and fired.  Here are a couple of examples.
