Never Mind The Facts!

Cartoon by BALOO
Warning:  Some readers of this blog have a problem with literalism. They lack a sarcasm detector, and irony is opaque to them.  When I refer to "The Messiah Obama," they e-mail me and explain that Obama isn't a messiah.  When I say that "racism has spread to Africa, and it must be Whitey's fault," they e-mail me that Africa has always had racism. Stuff like that.  So to the warning — Caution: This post contains sarcasm and irony, and not every statement in it is literally true out of context.

For centuries, nay, millennia, mankind lived in the dark, clumsily observing reality and making logical conclusions about it.  They didn't know how to look beyond reality to the real truth, because they hadn't learned to ignore facts in the service of higher, more etherial ideas.  And then a group came along that we call "liberals" today.  They could see through reality to metareality or something.  They saw that all the old virtues were stupid and old-fashioned, and knew that they could make up better virtues on the fly.  They taught us that economic laws could be changed by Act of Congress, and that you could eliminate poverty simply by outlawing it.  They turned the world upside down, and produced the worldwide utopia we live in today.  Among other things, they declared that men and women are exactly alike, and that what we think of as differences between the sexes were dreamed up by crusty old patriarchs who forced little girls to play with dolls and little boys to play with wheeled toys while going "Vroom!  vroom!"  And, most importantly, they taught us that evolution stopped in its tracks the minute homo sapiens sapiens came into existence.  Unlike all other living things, the human species is unchanging and never varies in the slightest, intellectually and temperamentally and physically.  Evidently, differences in skin color and head shape and size and all that other "superficial" stuff was forced on everybody by those same old crusty patriarchs.  Race, they tell us, does not exist.  One of the shining lights in the pantheon of liberalism is the American Anthropological Society.  OneSTDV discusses one of their enlightening exhibits HERE.  Cautionary note — the original Darwin quote in that post proved to be bogus, and it's been replaced by an accurate one.
