Islam and Christianity

Some people have accused me of being anti-Arab or anti-Muslim. It is to laugh. I actually think highly of both groups and consider them superior to most other groups. Arabs first — they're a little hard to define, so I think of them as basically being people whose native language is Arabic. That's a bit oversimplified, sure, but it covers most of them. And most of them are basically caucasian, usually a dark-hair/eye/skin variety. That's the ethnic-racial group. Arabs. Some Christian Arabs have immigrated to the West and fit in just fine. Think Danny Thomas, James Abourezk, and Ralph Nader. Note: their forbears who immigrated were Christians, so to that extent they were already pretty well in synch with Western values and mores. Those are good people, who fit in pretty well, by and large. I like those people.

But then we come to Muslims. Muslims come in various races, like Christians do, but they all have a basic problem when they enter the West. They don't fit in. They're inclined to do a lot of things we in the West disapprove of — polygamy, child marriage, honor killings, ritual slaughter, purdah. They're inclined to do them simply out of tradition, and, in many cases, because they believe their religion requires these things. And, obviously, we in the West do a lot of things they disapprove of. I hardly need to list those things. Now, you know what? I like Muslims, too. I think the Muslim faith is miles ahead of most human religions and I think it overlaps plenty with Christianity, and that the two religions have things to teach one another. However, it doesn't overlap enough. Islam is incompatible with Christianity. In the same society, the two groups will annoy hell out of each other at best, and explode in regular bloodbaths at the worst. Saying that doesn't make me anti-Islam. Since I think the two religions are incompatible, I'm just as adamant about keeping Christians out of Muslim countries as I am with the inverse. A few million Catholics or Baptists or Mormons settling in Pakistan would genuinely screw the pooch. Very. Bad. Idea. A bad idea in both directions.

So, my conclusion is that Muslims should not under any circumstances be admitted as immigrants to the West. And, other than name-calling, I haven't heard any counterarguments worth listening to on the subject.

If we stay off each other's turf, we can be pals.

Human ancestry is more complicated than most people think.
